– Andrzej, member of the management team
Because of the nature of my work, most of my clients require confidentiality. Therefore, all of the cases presented are real, but they do not include names of individuals or organizations. Reference contacts are available upon request.
Our department went through changes — a new leader, new energy, but also a fair amount of uncertainty.
The team was experienced, but we operated more like “everyone for themselves.” Each of us had our own priorities, goals, and ways of working. We talked about collaboration, but in practice — silos, fragmentation, no shared direction.
The new manager proposed the SMART Team program.
Our reaction was cautious: “Another initiative, another tool — and as much work as ever.”
It turned out this wasn’t just another workshop to tick off the list.
We started with the basics — what we wanted to achieve together, what really mattered as a team.
Each of us defined our key goals, and then… something shifted.
We started to notice that:
others were genuinely working on meaningful things — not just talking, but taking action;
we had influence — we weren’t just executors, but co-creators of direction;
our goals were visible — and achieving them gave satisfaction and motivation;
we discussed decisions rather than just accepting them — we understood and supported them better;
we acted more like a team — less hidden rivalry, more unity.
I’m not a fan of “soft” processes for their own sake.
But this program made a real difference. It helped us:
establish a rhythm of work that connects goals, actions, and relationships;
build trust — because the leader didn’t just manage, he really listened;
change the atmosphere — more openness, still with humor and lightness;
achieve results — in a way that strengthens rather than burns out.
If you’re managing a team — take this seriously.
SMART Team isn’t magic. It’s a process that works if you want to build a real team, not just enforce tasks.
The program:
professionalizes the way of working — brings structure, rhythm, and purpose;
eliminates silent tensions — because everything is on the table: goals, emotions, attitudes;
builds accountability — not through control, but through visibility and support;
unlocks energy — because people know why they’re doing something and feel it matters.
A new leader, a dispersed team, no common direction.
SMART Team step by step rebuilds trust, work rhythm, and a shared sense of purpose.
It works — because it brings clarity, structure, and space for every team member to make a real impact.
